DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by NYSSCA and CDCA\nDATE: April 18th 2024\nTIME: Check in 3:45\, Event 4 to 6 pm.\nPLACE: Sage Albany Campus\, Kahl Conference Center (KC224) \nFREE for NYSSCA/CDCA Members\n$10.00 for Non Members\nLite Food/Drinks will be served\nThis event is for school counseling graduate students. Attendees will\nhear from a panel of professionals in education and school counseling.\nParticipants will have the opportunity to:\n*Get tips for job interviewing & resume writing\n*Have resumes reviewed at the event\n*network with professionals\n*learn about job opportunities and career advancement options \nPanel Presenters:\nDr. Rebecca Devries: Director Of School Counseling\, Schenectady City\nSchool District: Dr. Devries prioritizes shared decision making and fostering strong\ncollaborative relationships with the community\, families\, students\, and staff to effectively serve all\nstudents. With approximately 20 years of experience in urban education\, she advocates for\ninclusivity\, equity\, and access for all children within her role. \nJanelle Sipowicz: Director of SEL/Counseling\, South Glens Falls School\nDistrict: Janelle supports the programming\, staffing & curriculum necessary to meet the needs\nof students through the work of our School Counselors\, Social Workers\, and School\npsychologists. She is grateful to assist in finding ways for students to be successful. \nKristen Connor: Bethlehem School District\, K-12 Counseling and Social\nWork Supervisor: Prior to taking on this role\, Kristen was a school counselor in the\nNiskayuna school district for 13 years. \nMichael Burns: Questar III BOCES\, Early Learning Principal\nMichael started his career in education as an elementary teacher. He began his administrative\nwork as the principal of Chatham Elementary prior to taking his current position with Questar. He\nis a published author of the children’s SEL book “Nervous Rex\,” and is currently working on his\nsecond book. \nJanelle Lyons: School Counselor Catapult Learning\, NYSSCA Region 4\nGovernor\, CDCA Graduate Committee Chair: Janelle has been a school counselor\nin the capital region for 15 years working in a variety of settings\, public and private schools\nprimarily with students grade preK thru grade 8. She has been heavily involved with the local\nprofessional organization\, CDCA\, and state level association NYSSCA. Via these volunteer\npositions\, she works to help advance and advocate for the school counseling profession while\nsupporting local school counselors via coordination of professional development and outreach. \n*Jaymes White: Principal/CEO of Green Tech Charter School: Jaymes started\nhis career in education as a school counselor and transitioned into administration as an assistant\nprincipal in the Tamarac School district prior to taking on his current role.
