Does your work have you interacting with LGBTQ+ youth and their families? Would you like to know more about how to support families that are challenged by the child or teen’s sexual orientation or gender identity? At this free live webinar, provided by the Suicide Prevention Center of NY, Project Director for the LGBTQ+ Center for Behavioral Health Equity, Angela Weeks, MPA will discuss the importance of family support, strategies for helping families process their feelings, and promising practices and resources for working with families of LGBTQ+ youth.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learners will hear about the importance of family acceptance for LGBTQ+ children and youth
  • Learners will gain tools, such as cultural humility principles and promising practices, for working with the families of LGBTQ+ children and youth
  • Learners will leave with an understanding of important dynamics such as deep culture and family fear of discrimination that are important elements when working with families effectively.
