Developing a Curriculum for My Building: Skills and Knowledge for Students’ Success-Middle Level Counselors

A well-designed school counseling curriculum helps us become even more efficient and effective in meeting the needs of all our students. Using Tier 1 universal interventions and your school’s goals, the school counseling curriculum supports every student’s academic, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development.

This workshop will give you some of the tools you need to help you to build your school counseling curriculum for the next school year. The session will focus on:

• getting acquainted with the NYSSCA School Counseling Curriculum repository.
• exploring predesigned lessons that you can choose to use.
• identifying student and school needs to support curriculum development for your building, and,
• discussing how to develop a scope and sequence to organize your lessons.
